The idea for Dirkosh Crunch began when Valerie turned vegan and couldn’t find any crisps that were actually healthy - and tasty! Living in Ethiopia provided a unique opportunity to take a local staple (injera) and create an innovative recipe that transformed it into an irresistible crunchy snack. Being a social worker, who had backpacked across the continent before settling in Addis Ababa, she began envisioning a way to help the community while inspiring the world to see Africa’s beauty.
While other gluten-free healthy alternatives exist, Dirkosh Crunch is the only gluten-free, & oil-free crisp that also provides a unique exploration into Ethiopia’s vibrant cuisine. Not only is this snack protein & micronutrient rich, it also partners with a community of local farmers and underserved women.
